Handyman Wanted To Keep Our QAS History Alive

Do you enjoy old buildings, heritage stories, or the satisfaction of keeping something special in good shape? QAS is looking for one or more members who’d like to help co‑ordinate the general repairs and maintenance of our much‑loved, heritage‑listed Gallery cottage.

This isn’t a hands‑on trade role, it’s mainly about helping us stay organised, keeping in touch with the Queanbeyan-Palerang Council, and liaising with approved tradespeople when work needs to be scheduled. A detailed Heritage Report was completed in 2025, setting out the maintenance priorities, and Council is currently reviewing the work and gathering cost estimates for the next budget cycle. So the groundwork is already in place.

One project that needs attention soon is obtaining quotes and exploring government assistance for installing solar panels on the workroom roof; a great step toward reducing our running costs and supporting sustainability.

If you have an interest in heritage buildings, enjoy coordinating projects, or simply want to help QAS look after its home, we’d love to hear from you.
