QAS holds eleven exhibitions a year, some of which are open competitions, and the remainder are for members only. Running alongside the exhibition is the Member Art Profile, which highlights the work of a particular QAS member each month. Please note that the exhibition calendar is, from time to time, updated. Members are informed of changes in advance via the newsletter and this website.
Entry fee (per entry): Non-members $20, Members $10, Gallery painters $5, Gallery Sitters $5.
August / October theme swap - In consultation with the sponsor of the August exhibition, The Queanbeyan Leagues Club, the themes for August and October have been swapped. This will allow members a wider diversity of themes for the sponsored exhibition. Thank you to our generous sponsors! |

Artwork delivery - To the gallery on Friday 16 October between 2pm and 4pm. Registration and label - No registration or entry fee is required, but you must provide a label 9cm wide x 5.5cm high (business card size), to be displayed alongside your artwork with the following printed information:
Pricing – You are encouraged to price your artwork very competitively, as this opportunity is designed to help you move any pieces you may have been holding onto. Pick Up – from the gallery on Sunday 18 October between 4pm and 5pm. Any uncollected artworks will be subject to disposal under the usual terms and conditions. |

Conditions of Entry

General Conditions
Eligibility: Any work that has previously won a FIRST PRIZE or BEST EXHIBIT at any previous QAS Exhibition is not eligible to enter. Works should have been completed within the past three years. Works must be the original and unassisted work of the artist.
Framing: All works must be suitably presented and ready to hang. D-rings are to be attached to either side of the back of the work approximately 1/3 from the top with cord or coated wire attached. Eyehooks and cup-hooks are acceptable. Sharp or protruding edges on the back of the work must be taped over. The back of the entry should show artist’s name, title of work, and medium.
Canvases: Stretched canvases will be accepted, unframed, with clean or painted edges.
Large or small artworks: A miniature artwork is 10x10cm or framed 30x30 cm. Two miniature artworks can be entered for a single entry fee. A large artwork is more than 1 meter on any edge and will incur an additional $5.
Unsuitable works: The QAS committee reserves the right to reject any work. No entry fee refund will be provided for works rejected, and rejected entries will not be shown.
Prizes: Prizes are awarded at the judge’s discretion and no correspondence will be entered into. One painting can win only one prize.
Sales: There is a 20% commission on all sales from the QAS gallery (percentage may vary for other events).
Insurance: QAS does not cover insurance for paintings displayed. All care is taken but no responsibility for loss, damage or theft.
Duration: Paintings must remain at the gallery for the duration of the exhibition, unless sold. If sold, the artist may replace a painting under the same conditions.
Collection: Paintings must be collected on the changeover day. If not collected, paintings will be moved to the workroom. If paintings remain uncollected, they will be moved to the external storage shed. Once the shed reaches capacity paintings will be discarded.
Promotion: QAS reserves the right to photograph and/or reproduce any entry for promotional, educational or review purposes, including electronic media.
Offsite venues: Unless you circle ‘No’ on the entry form, your artwork may be displayed in the Queanbeyan Riverside Plaza window or Beess Café for a month, or Lerida Estate for two months, following the close of the exhibition.

Special Conditions – Photography
Eligibility: This category is strictly NOT open to Professional Photographers.
Registration: Online registrations only will be accepted (Queanbeyan Art Society - Exhibition Calendar).
Presentation: Photography may be printed on any substrate; including canvas, archival paper, or mounted board.
Medium: Photography ‘Medium’ to include printing method (inkjet, silver gelatin, canvas print, etc.).
Size: Minimum size: 20 × 20 cm.
Mandatory Digital Image Submission: A digital image of each photographic entry must be emailed to <qartsociety@gmail.com>.
