QAS holds eleven exhibitions a year, some of which are open competitions, and the remainder are for members only. Running alongside the exhibition is the Member Art Profile, which highlights the work of a particular QAS member each month.

General Conditions of Exhibition Entry

Copyright: The copyright remains the property of the artist.
Eligibility: Any work that has previously won a FIRST PRIZE or BEST EXHIBIT at any previous QAS Exhibition is not eligible to enter. Works should have been completed within the past three years. Works must be the original and unassisted work of the artist.
Framing: All works must be suitably presented and ready to hang. D-rings are to be attached to either side of the back of the work approximately 1/3 from the top with cord or coated wire attached. Eyehooks and cup-hooks are acceptable. Sharp or protruding edges on the back of the work must be taped over. The back of the entry should show artist’s name, title of work, and medium.
Canvases: Stretched canvases will be accepted, unframed, with clean or painted edges.
Large or small artworks: A miniature artwork is 10x10cm or framed 30x30 cm. Two miniature artworks can be entered for a single entry fee. A large artwork is more than 1 meter on any edge and will incur an additional $5.
Unsuitable works: The QAS committee reserves the right to reject any work. No entry fee refund will be provided for works rejected, and rejected entries will not be shown.
Prizes: Prizes are awarded at the judge’s discretion and no correspondence will be entered into. One painting can win only one prize. First Prize $100, Second Prize $50, Third Prize $20, Highly Commended $10.
Sales: There is a 20% commission on all sales from the QAS gallery (percentage may vary for other events).
Insurance: QAS does not cover insurance for paintings displayed. All care is taken but no responsibility for loss, damage or theft.
Duration: Paintings must remain at the gallery for the duration of the exhibition, unless sold. If sold, the artist may replace a painting under the same conditions.
Promotion: QAS reserves the right to photograph and/or reproduce any entry for promotional, educational or review purposes, including electronic media.
Offsite venues: Unless you select not to have your art displayed in offsite venues on the entry form, your artwork may be chosen for displayed in the Queanbeyan Riverside Plaza window, Beess Café, or Lerida Estate for two months, following the close of the exhibition.
